Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced patient benefits specialist to join our team. In this role, you will support our revenue cycle and patient benefits department by ensuring a smooth front-end benefits verification, coordination, and authorization process for all tests. You will interact daily with patients, insurance carriers, medical facilities, and providers to provide exceptional customer service and resolve billing inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with regional and national payers to verify health plan eligibility, benefits, and deductibles.
- Serve as the primary contact for patients, addressing concerns regarding health plan benefits and billing details.
- Coordinate patient and insurance billing processes for our medical services, ensuring accuracy in patient information and insurance eligibility verification.
- Submit prior authorizations and clean claims to insurance companies on a daily basis.
- Review physician referrals to ensure completeness and accuracy, including necessary patient information, diagnosis codes, and authorizations.
- Assist patients with establishing payment plans and provide ongoing customer service regarding billing inquiries.
- Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
- Verify and enter patient demographic, insurance, and referring physician information into our systems accurately.
- Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances as necessary.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in patient benefits coordination, medical billing, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to review accounts for billing accuracy.
- Familiarity with eligibility verification and prior authorization processes.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, insurance companies, and medical providers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using billing software and electronic health records systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Medical Billing or related field is a plus.
- Experience working in a medical laboratory or healthcare setting.
