Job Overview:
The Environmental Service Patient Ambassador may work in any location on client premises. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Xanitos may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities, client requirements and applicable industry standards.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Greets/meets patients as admitted each day and during stay.
- Educates patients on services provided by Environmental Services and Patient Transportation; probes for concerns, needs, and impressions of service.
- Identifies through interviews, discussions or observations opportunities to improve inpatient experience.
- Works collaboratively with housekeepers and supervisors to enhance inpatient experience—resolving patient concerns, addressing special requests, providing creative “touches.”
- Dispatches concerns regarding other department services to appropriate personnel.
- Follows-up on every concern to ensure that resolution occurs and that patient perceives this resolution.
- Connects with each patient prior to discharge to ensure stay was fully satisfying. Provides each patient a business card.
- Provides supportive, caring, “obsessive” attention to patients who complain about EVS.
- Relates in a positive, can-do spirit to housekeepers, nursing and department personnel and visitors.
- Completes the required amount of Patient Satisfaction surveys for both Environmental and Patient Transportation services.
- Implements and administers any special patient focus programs. Obtains materials, arranges distribution.
- Orders, receives, and arranges distribution of tent cards.
- Organizes “morning policing” and evening “turndown” service into meaningful CLEAN & INTERACT programs. Maintains tight control over quality of these programs.
- Arranges and administers post-discharge mailing program. Obtains materials/cards.
- Serves as additional “uniform monitors” to ensure that all public and patient area staff is in hotel-style uniforms.
- Creatively develops and implements programs designed to reach and exceed 85% on the Press-Ganey Surveys.
- Designs special hospitality initiatives/campaigns to include buttons, posters, balloons, special events, etc.
- Develops Supervisor-Patient Contact Program.
- Researches what other departments and other Xanitos accounts are doing with hospitality.
- Maintains liaison with external patient polling service (i.e. Parkside; Press-Ganey; Gallup; Tenet PSMS). Work closely with them on improvement strategy.
- Works closely with other departments to ensure customer satisfaction with the Xanitos Program.
- Maintains thorough records of all patient admissions and stayovers; maintains thorough record of contact with patients.
- Administers formal interview program utilizing questionnaire. Scores results and prepares monthly statistical reports and graphs.
- Maintains careful records of financial expenditures on hospitality.
- Monitors Patient and Client Surveys. Calculates survey results and tracks trends as needed.
- Performs assignments as directed.
- Maintains a positive attitude – Exudes a “can-do” image at all times.

The expected hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.00 to $20.00, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors.
