Overview:
Our Mental Health Technicians support our high risk mental health patients. Our highest priority for these patients is safety and delivering a therapeutic environment.
Successful candidates will have a passion for working in behavioral health, demonstrating empathy, compassionate caring, and a high level of emotional intelligence, providing one on one support to patients.
The shifts will rotate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Responsibilities:As a member of an interdisciplinary team provides continuous care and supervision of patients to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists with routine patient care activities including: assisting patient with activities of daily living, obtaining clinical data (vital signs, height and weight, collecting specimens) and performing point of care.
- Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment by keeping the hallways clear of excess equipment, emptying linen bags etc.
- Assists visitors and answer telephones.
- Follows and participates in patient’s plan of care.
- Assists with the management of aggressive patients.
- Assists in monitoring and/or care of patients who require close observation (suicidal/elopement risks, patients in restraints and/or seclusion).
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to establish goals and restrictions of privileges based on the patients behavior and level of care.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in mental health or human services related field preferred.
- Previous experience in healthcare or mental health preferred.
- Excellent communication skills desired with the ability to work collaboratively as member of multi-disciplinary team.
- Complete required Workplace Violence Prevention Training within 6 months of hire.
