About the Job
Specific duties include:
1. Develop and maintain knowledge of the specific laws and agency policies applied when
categorizing records requests and determining record releasability, including Public Officers Law
sections 66a and 87, Criminal Procedure Law sections 160 and 725, Family Court Act sections
375 and 381, as well as other state and federal statutes governing the release of agency
records, most importantly the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL).
2. Perform all aspects of the FOIL request process from receipt to final agency response, including
research of any prior FOIL or POL 66a requests in the OPEN FOIL database.
3. Contact Troops, Details and Sections to identify and retrieve all applicable records in response
to FOIL requests.
4. Utilize various internal agency systems to identify and retrieve all applicable records in response
to FOIL requests.
5. Act as a liaison with courts, the public, and other state, county, and local agencies to obtain necessary
information relative to FOIL requests.
6. Interact with agency Counsel, the Attorney General's Office, and County District Attorneys as
required.
7. Prepare correspondence and documentation in accordance with agency policy and applicable
statutes for review by supervisor prior to release

The work site location will be at Washington Ave Ext. Albany, NY 12203
