The CENTERS team is innovative, entrepreneurial, trail-blazing, and ambitious for both CENTERS and our clients. Today, CENTERS provides management services for 14 clients.
Responsibilities
Personal Trainers will help clients achieve their physical fitness goals by evaluating their clients’ current fitness level, developing personalized training programs, and monitoring client progress.
This position will work on-site at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Sonnentag Center, a major athletic, recreation, and event center, set to open summer of 2024. The new Sonnentag Center will serve as a venue for university and community events, concerts, and home to Eau Claire Men’s and Women’s Athletics.
Essential Functions
- Conduct fitness assessments
- Develop customized training programs for clients
- Demonstrate proper exercise form and safely instruct client through an effective personal training session
- Provide quality customer service and communication to all clients and potential clients
- Utilize provided software for communication, program planning, and client and financial record keeping
- Communicate effectively with supervisor
- Follow and enforce all program and facility policies
- Respond and assist as needed during emergencies
- Attend staff meetings, in-services, and trainings
- Promote the fitness program and services
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications
- Current personal training certification from ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA; additional NCCA-accredited certifications are often acceptable and will be reviewed for consideration
- Experience with Fitness Assessment Equipment, including but not limited to: Blood Pressure, Height, Weight, Body Fat measurement with calipers, Waist to Hip Ratio, Cardiovascular Testing, Muscular Strength and Endurance Testing, and Flexibility Testing
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to customize Exercise Prescription and developing progressive workouts for clients
- Ability to build relationships and work with a variety of clients
- Ability to work independently

- Maintain flexible hours for occasional sporting and other events that may occur on weekends and evenings
Physical Demands
- Walking or working in fitness center 95% of the work day
- Must be able to traverse throughout the building and campus. Regularly ascending/descending building levels and occasionally ladders or stools.
- Must be able to lift, move and set up items weighing as much as 50 lbs.
- Must be able to demonstrate proper exercise form, set up and adjust fitness equipment.
- Must be able to discuss, converse with, and exchange accurate information with arena patrons, staff, stakeholders, etc.
