As aPRN Speech Language Therapist, you will providea full range of diagnostic and rehabilitative services for patients with speech-language and/or swallowing disorders. Tests, evaluates, plans, and develops appropriate therapy modalities based on the patient's individual ability/disability. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Primary Duties:
Provides direct speech, language, and swallowing evaluations and re-evaluations, including assessment of prior and current level of functioning, setting appropriate goals and making appropriate discharge recommendations in accordance with standards of practice. Provides direct SLP treatments according to standards of practice, including patient and family education, progression of treatment plan and implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions.
Utilizes appropriate documentation forms and abides by PM&R’s documentation standards. Coordinates and prioritizes own schedule in relation to demands of patient treatment and other departmental responsibilities.
Demonstrates proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
Collaborates with physicians, patients, family and other members of health care team relative to patient treatment and progress as well as other affiliated agencies with regard to effective discharge planning.
Maintains CEUs per state requirements for continued professional competency. Adheres to all Department of Health and Joint Commission regulations with regards to the physical environment and patient care.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
SP-L - Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the District of Columbia.
BLS (Basic Life Support).
1-2 years related clinical practice experience in an acute care or rehabilitation facility preferred.
