- JOB SUMMARY
- The athletic trainer will be able to demonstrate an ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, (including first aide) and reconditioning as set forth by the NATA Board Certification. The athletic trainer will carry out all prescribed treatments and recommendations by the team/program/eventphysician. The athletic trainer will cover assigned pre-season physicals, sports games or matches, and related events under the supervision of the program manager.
- DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
- Demonstrates proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principals of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the athlete's status and interpret the appropriate information.
- Possesses clinical comfort and demonstrate comfort in the taking of vital signs, chief complaints and other services standard to that of a physician extender in the clinical setting.
- Assists the other staff in community event coverage as deemed necessary by the primary physician, promotes wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
- Obtains, verifies, and records health history of patients. Gathers pertinent health data through physical assessments.
- Provides basic patient care as ordered, assists other health care professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures and treatments and adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.
- Documents assessments, interventions, patient/family responses, medication prescribed, and test results in medical records
- EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum requirement:
- Bachelor’s Degree in health related field
- Maintains Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification
- Maintains active Athletic Trainer’s License in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and State of Ohio
- Preferred qualifications:
- One year experience
- Master’s Degree
- Minimum requirement:

- Constantly works near moving mechanical parts
- Constantly exposed toblood and/or body fluids andinfection.
- Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
- Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting).
- Frequently required to walk and move about.
- Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
- Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
- Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
- Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Occasionally required to position self in order to meet patient needs.
