Our client, a second-generation family-owned distributor and servicer of pumps and related products, is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to join their team. As an Outside Sales Representative, you’ll be the primary contact for customers seeking new systems, expansions, or service for their existing setups. This role is critical in driving sales growth and ensuring customer satisfaction through exceptional service and technical expertise. Working in a territory that spans from South Portland to California (excluding counties touching the Columbia River), you’ll make field visits to industrial and municipal plants, offices, and consulting firms.
This position offers comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, PTO, and a 401(k) plan, with transportation reimbursement at 62.5 cents per mile.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for customer inquiries about systems, expansions, and parts or service.
- Make sales calls in the field, visiting industrial and municipal clients within the designated territory.
- Provide accurate quotes for pricing, terms, and delivery timelines while adhering to established procedures.
- Collaborate with the inside sales team to address parts, repair services, and new application needs.
- Utilize CRM software to plan, record, and manage sales activities.
- Promote sales growth, manage profitability, and support the design and development of custom systems.
- Ensure timely delivery of products, technical solutions, and resolution of customer issues.
- Set up training sessions for clients and execute plans to grow business relationships.
Qualifications
- Experience in outside industrial sales, or a technical/engineering degree (or equivalent experience).
- Knowledge of industrial and fluid-handling equipment with the ability to discuss technical aspects.
- Strong negotiation, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and achieve individual and team performance goals.
- Self-motivated and self-directed, with a results-driven approach.
- Resides within the designated territory.
- Will consider trainable candidates with a collaborative attitude and a good cultural fit who are eager to learn the products and market.
