The primary responsibility of an Operations Manager (Paint) is to assist in managing/training field crews, and minimizing job site issues and downtime. The Operations Manager must lead by example with our core values in mind. These responsibilities will include training, workmanship checks (QC), job site etiquette (professionalism/safety), and ensuring crews are working efficiently. The Operation Manager will lead by example and work directly with Field Managers to ensure job sites are running at optimal efficiency and producing quality work to Cherry Coating’s expected standard.

Field Responsibilities-80%
- Track and schedule upcoming projects to ensure job coverage and employee schedules.
- Schedule field staff for projects and move between projects, understanding the number of staff needed, project schedule, and budgeted labor hours.
- Coordinate pre-job meetings and job starts with Project Managers, clients, and field crews.
- Fully understand the Scope of Work, inclusions, and exclusions.
- Conduct pre-job and progress meetings related to foreman familiarization, plan scope, safety, environmental, and production issues.
- Order materials and sundries from appropriate vendors and ensure they are delivered to the job site via vendor, in-house delivery, or personally. Make every effort to keep field personnel on the job and out of the store.
- Order man-lifts, scaffold, and swing stage, and track rental terms to ensure schedules are kept and equipment is called off in a timely fashion.
- Follow jobs and communicate with Project managers and Clients on progress, scheduling/accessing areas for work, and any requested changes to the scope of work.
- Track hours and overtime on projects minimizing overtime.
- Analyze overtime cost benefit vs. rental equipment costs and adjust the schedule accordingly.
- Inspect projects for quality and ensure specs are being followed.
- Ensure all safety and environmental policies are being followed.
- Work with other team members as needed to lend advice or expertise in the estimating, planning, or production processes.
- Complete weekly progress reports and two-week look-ahead and provide them to Project Managers.
Management Responsibilities-20%
- Interview and hire field staff as appropriate.
- Track skills and experience of field employees to understand strengths and weaknesses to properly assign to appropriate jobs.
- Train field personnel in planning, surface prep, application, safety, environmental, application, etc. to bring up the next set of leaders.
- Assist with site orientation or required badging.
- Collect and approve reimbursable receipts from the field and submit them to payroll on a weekly basis.
- Monitor Timekeeper and approve Timekeeper correction.
- Review job sheets with Sales staff weekly.
Where You Will Collaborate:
- Architectural Operations Manager to move labor between constructions and repaint projects as needed.
- Operational leaders and HR Team to recruit, interview, and onboard top talent.
- Vendors for all services related to the role.
What You Bring:
- Significant commercial paint and/or industrial flooring experience
- Solid business acumen with a working understanding of your role and function within the business
- Ability to connect and build fluid communications with peers, clients, and direct or indirect reports.
