Under the direction of the Site Physician(s), Practice Manager, and Supervisor Clinical Oncology the Site Nurse serves as a primary liaison to physicians, APP’s and clinical staff, ensuring continuity of and quality of care. May also be directed by employees in a charge role. Performs to the level of a licensed registered nurse as dictated by the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and Duly Health and Care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilizes appropriate Hyperspace computer functions and interaction with clinic staff and physicians to facilitate patient flow.
- Completes patient forms (FMLA, disability, etc.), prior authorization forms as per the Provider’s request.
- Monitor and triage in-baskets and. Respond to incoming patient My Chart messages. Triages patient messages and responds in accordance with departmental policy and procedures. Assist with prescription refill requests. Reviews and prioritize same day messages.
- Referrals: dietician, physical therapy, social worker, home care, Hospice, and DME orders.
- Collaborate with the referral coordinators and HPS to manage Oncology work queues.
- Management of Pomalyst and Revlimid patients. Educate patients on registration process and survey completion, obtain authorization number, complete monthly questionnaires to obtain refills.
- Assist pharmacy team with paperwork for oral oncolytics.
- Coordinate Peer-to Peer reviews with Physicians and Insurance Companies.
- Consults and collaborates with other members of the health care team to assure patient needs are met and that there is effective and efficient continuity of care.
Assists in Coverage:
- Assists with patient appointment reschedules.
- Provides assistance to team members to ensure a smooth patient flow and professional office environment.
EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
- Current license to practice in the State of Illinois as a professional nurse.
- Current CPR certification required
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred one (1) year oncology experience in a medical setting such as a doctor’s office or hospital setting.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $28-42, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
