The Oncology Medical Assistant will report to the Oncology Practice Manager. This role involves working closely with oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver outstanding patient care and support.
The oncology unit is dedicated to providing specialized care to patients undergoing cancer treatment. The team is focused on delivering compassionate care while utilizing the latest technologies and treatment modalities. The unit is designed to support patients through their treatment journey, ensuring a high level of comfort and clinical excellence.
As an Oncology Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with patient intake and preparation for oncology consultations and treatments. Duties include taking and recording patient histories, measuring vital signs, preparing and administering medications as directed, and providing patient education about treatment procedures and care. Additionally, you will support the oncology team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and coordinating care between different departments. Maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and confidentiality are also key responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred. Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of oncology terminology, procedures, and treatments is a plus. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion are essential.
