SUMMARY
Fast Track Assistant Managers train with a C-Store management team and are responsible for learning how to run an efficient and profitable operation of a single unit location. Assists the Manager and Assistant Manager in the daily operation of the store, development of all employees within the store and ensure the best customer service standards are in place. Fast Track Assistant Managers work an average of 50 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPENTENCY: (*denotes an essential function of the position)
Business Results Orientation
- Direct the shift to ensure maximum productivity of every staff member, including self
- Protect company assets at all times by following asset control policies
- Understand sales per labor hour and observe shift operating hours at all times.
- Properly post all hours worked and sign verifying all hours worked; Follow the work schedule as posted, unless a change is deemed necessary by management; *Work an irregular schedule, including evenings and weekends; *Assist in covering shifts with sometimes with short notice
- Complete deposit and paperwork in timely manner
- Understand how to perform financial analysis and attain expected store sales, profits, and margins.
- Following completion of all training, should be able to perform all duties of an Assistant Manager.
- Maintain regular attendance and follow designated safety practices.
- Perform other duties not listed as required.
Communication
- Immediately contact Store Manager, Territory Manager or Human Resources when employee or customer injury occurs on Company property; *Report all accidents, maintenance issues and customer incidents to Store Manager immediately and complete proper paperwork and communicate through logbook
- Advise Store Manager of any personnel situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on store operating performance
- Communicate store results to employees and celebrate store successes with the team
- Interact with vendors ordering, placing displays, negotiating promotions, and building a sound working relationship.
- Ensure all communications with customers, suppliers, vendors, co-workers, etc. is professional and appropriate
- Delegate any necessary tasks per shift and ensure proper shift change procedures are followed
- Stay familiar with Company Policy Manual, bulletins, memos, and other publications and communicate appropriate information.
Customer Service Orientation
- Meet all customer needs as efficiently and effectively as possible by providing superior customer service.
- Follow up on all customer requests, complaints, or suggestions.
- Operate the register executing each of the 5 steps of a transaction: greeting, quick transaction, suggestive sell, correct change, proper closing
- Report to work in accordance with company uniform and appearance standards
- Exhibit a professional, customer friendly and helpful attitude while on the job
- Lead by example and coach other employees on how to deliver the best customer service
- Utilize all company programs to the fullest extent in order to provide full satisfaction to customer and make customer recoveries when necessary.
Developing Talent
- Complete certification requirements for an Assistant Manager within required timeframe
- Assist in developing employees and coaching and counseling employees on store procedures and customer service guidelines.
- Take primary responsibility in developing and educating new shift leaders.
- Follow and enforce all company policies and procedures as defined in the Policy/Training Manual or other guidelines
- Complete specific tasks as assigned by Store Manager and Assistant Manager.
- Challenge oneself continually to enhance knowledge of store operations and the industry.
- Practice proper safety techniques and encourage others to do the same
Safety
- Attend and participates in safety meetings.
- Work diligently to correct safety deficiencies in a timely manner.
- Investigate all work-related and/or customer injury/property damage accidents, identifying the conditions responsible and corrective action needed.
- Complete safety training required for this position.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Inform Supervisor or Manager of unsafe conditions and behaviors and recommend how to correct or eliminate them.
- Report all work-related injuries immediately.
- Cooperate with the medical provider and follow the treatment plan and Return-to-Work Program.
- Work to avoid preventable accidents.
Technical Expertise
- Adhere to all city, county and state regulations including but not limited to the sale of age-restricted products.
- Familiarize self with Company Policy Manual, bulletins, memos, and other publications.
- Assist Manager in meeting daily, weekly, and monthly reporting requirements.
- Perform inventory counts on departments assigned by Manager and assisting the Manager in inventory management, including cash audits
- Assist Manager in proper merchandising of the store to maximize sales and profitability
- Be knowledgeable about all store promotions and employee promotions
- Complete payroll and daily paperwork in the manager’s absence including the daily deposit
- Assist in ensuring all equipment in store is functioning properly and is receiving proper preventative maintenance checks
- Assist in the recruiting process.
- Ensure self and others adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the company policy and procedure manual
- Conduct monthly safety meeting as directed.
- Be knowledgeable about Balanced Scorecard structure and measures as well as the duties required to execute those measures successfully.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no direct reports; however, this position will be responsible for the unit in the Manager’s absence.

Education: *Required: Equivalent to High school
Experience: *Over 1 year up to and including 3 years retail experience
Language Skills: *Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner that is
sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Skills and Abilities: *Skill using various procedures and applications to clearly prescribe standard practices which require the making of minor decisions and use of some judgment as to the method of performance.
*Ability to use own judgment in the analysis of facts and circumstances surrounding individual problems and transactions and in the determination of actions to be taken within the limits of standard or accepted practice.
*Ability to work an irregular schedule, including 45+ hours per week and some evenings and weekends.
