The Planned Giving Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of planned giving activities and projects and assisting in the growth of the planned giving program. The incumbent will help to develop cultivation and solicitation strategies, solicit and close gifts and ensure appropriate and timely stewardship of gifts. This role will interact with high level volunteer leadership, senior physicians and senior Trust staff.

The Planned Giving Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of planned giving activities and projects and assisting in the growth of the planned giving program. The incumbent will help to develop cultivation and solicitation strategies, solicit and close gifts and ensure appropriate and timely stewardship of gifts. This role will interact with high level volunteer leadership, senior physicians and senior Trust staff.
This Planned Giving Officer will:
- Manage and build prospect pool of at least 100 individuals capable of making gifts of $25,000 or more; Solicit and close planned and major gifts, including outright gifts, life income gifts, bequests and gifts of assets.
- Conduct monthly prospect visits to ensure that goals are met, manage and initiate all activity related to prospects consistent with moves management principles, and creatively and persistently seek connections to new prospects to qualify interest and capacity, and to build pipeline.
- Prepare proposals, planned giving illustrations and case materials.
- Track and monitor income (both pending and received) from bequest transfers. Coordinate the timely recording and acknowledgment of these gifts.
- Oversee mailing of gift annuity checks to annuity income recipients. Collaborate with the Trust’s finance director regarding financial information on planned gifts.
- Plan and coordinate visits and special events for prospects and donors.
- Develop annual operating plan forecasting solicitations and visits, in consultation with leadership.
- Develop a work plan aimed at significantly increasing interaction with prospects and resulting gifts income.
- Collaborate with the Trust’s planned giving asset manager and administrator regarding financial information on charitable trust accounts.
- Stay abreast of clinical, research and administrative initiatives and issues related to health care. Develop an understanding of the breadth of research, clinical, teaching and community service programs of Children’s Hospital.
- Stay abreast of tax laws and current issues in gift planning through seminars, workshops, independent reading and professional affiliations.
- Support implementation of planned giving marketing plan in collaboration with Direct Marketing team.
- BA degree plus a minimum of two years’ development experience, preferably in a mid- to high-volume development department.
- Versatility and ability to change focus rapidly and adeptly while managing numerous competing priorities.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize, manage, and complete wide range of assignments and tasks.
- Consistent attention to detail, high level of productivity, and a solution-oriented performer who can be highly responsive to both staff and donor issues.
- Analytical skills to resolve problems through innovative application of high levels of specialized development knowledge.
- Strong technical skills with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) and information systems, and the ability to develop proficiency in specific data base management systems including PG Calc.
