About the Job
Under the general direction of the Assistant Clinical Director or designee, and in cooperation with all members of the staff, performs a wide range of customer relations, communications, clinical, billing and coordinative functions to fully support patient care services. Although it is necessary to identify specific tasks relating to this position, the overriding responsibility is to integrate this role into the daily operations thus ensuring that the patient care teams work for the good of the patient; other specific tasks may be added or deleted from the day to day tasks of this position, as the patient care team adapts to the daily needs of the patients we serve.Patient and family centered care (PFCC) at YNHH is demonstrated by working with patients and their families based on the 4 principles of PFCC: participation, dignity and respect, information sharing, and collaboration. - 1. Processes all inquiries, requests and responses from patients, visitors and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
- 2. Answers phone in a timely manner, directs calls to the appropriate person and manages all calls and call backs.
- 3. Enters appropriate data on all patients in a timely and accurate manner.
- 4. Registers and schedules all patients appointments and provides appropriate paperwork to patients.
- 5. Verifies insurance and eligibility for patients prior to arrival and enters data in computer. Alerts supervisor of any concerns or issues with patients' insurance.
- 6. Monitors and "works" the assigned work queues on a timely basis.
- 7. Follows established standards to obtain patient supplies and maintain par levels. Inventories, orders, and/or stocks supplies as scheduled and as needed, and notifies supervisor of problems associated with obtaining supplies.
- 8. Collaborates with administrative staff to assist in reports, studies, information collection, insurance and legal requests and computerization.
- 9. Provides clerical and administrative support to the clinicians.
EDUCATION
High school Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree preferred, including or supplemented by clinical coursework (State Registered Certified Nursing Assistant) and experience.
EXPERIENCE
Two (2) and (3) years of combined clinical and clerical experience preferably in an outpatient setting. Prior computer usage/knowledge required.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Fluency in Spanish, both verbal and written, required. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Experience in medical billing and in a psychiatric patient care setting preferred. Ability to interpret computer screens, forms and other documents and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to write clearly and legibly. Ability to make mathematical calculations. Moderate keyboarding skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment. Ability to respond to unpredictable, changing situations and needs (including clinical crises on the unit and otherwise stressful situations and interactions) with sound judgement and excellent customer relations skills.
Additional Information:
THIS POSITION IS COVERED BY THE TEAMSTERS COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT
Minimum - $19.10/hr.
Maximum - $37.17/hr.
