Description
The Horizontal Directional Drill Operator is responsible for the safe operation of drilling machinery, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining equipment used in the drilling process. This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and requires a strong focus on safety and quality control while coordinating with team members and landowners.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the safe operation of the drilling machine.
Ensure all employees stay clear of rotating parts and blind spots while moving the drill.
Flag and cover any open pits or potholes during drilling operations.
Ensure open holes are buried or covered and secure before the end of each shift.
Safely load and unload the drilling machine, including chain binding for transportation.
Manage drill locating equipment, including drill stem transmitters and handheld receivers.
Maintain daily reporting required for the site.
Keep the company vehicle in working order and report any issues.
Implement job instructions provided by leadership.
Ensure safety and quality control requirements at sites and with the crew.
Check that all paperwork is uploaded or turned in to the proper personnel or program.
Coordinate with landowners for site-related activities and maintain good relationships.
Ensure drill equipment is operational at all times.
Inspect completed work daily to ensure it meets company standards.
Analyze situations accurately and adopt appropriate courses of action.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00
