The Blue Ridge Health District (BRHD) is currently seeking a Nutritionist to join our team dedicated to protecting and promoting public health! BRHD is comprised of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. The position will be based in the Charlottesville/Albemarle Health Department but may require travel to other locations in the district. This role may include remote/telecommuting options.
The Nutritionist position provides nutrition services to clients in a variety of settings within a district. Characteristic activities include conducting patient nutritional assessments and evaluations in the clinic, school and community settings, develop and monitor nutritional care plans and food packages. Certifies clients for participation in available public health programs, schedules, provides and documents basic and secondary/high risk nutrition education; makes referrals to programs such as Medicaid, AFDC, and SNAP benefits. This position is responsible for overseeing the high risk clients and providing nutritional evaluation and recommendations to this population and tailoring nutrition recommendations to meet the needs of the diverse population that WIC serves. May perform other related administrative tasks.
This position provides the opportunity to obtain a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) certification fully funded by the Virginia WIC Program. Also, eligible employees can apply for the VA/MD/DC WIC Dietetic Internship to further their studies in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics following one year of employment.
