Job Description: It is the responsibility of the Nurse Practitioner to conduct clinical evaluations, medication management services, clinical consultation/supervision, and clinical client reviews. This position will specifically work in our Upper Darby Mental Health Outpatient program with a maximum of six patients. - Possess and apply knowledge of the principles and methods of psychiatry and other behavioral health disciplines, including psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and the relationship between diagnostic findings and pharmacotherapy
- Conduct medication management sessions and prescribe medications according to best practices, including minimizing unnecessary medications or prescriptive patterns that could result in dependency
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation of evaluation and medication management services
- Follow agency policies and procedures to carry out the care and treatment of clients
- Implement clinical service delivery goals consistent with overall agency goals and policy/procedures
- Report to direct supervisor, and other administrative staff as required, in a timely and comprehensive manner
- Complete all required training as per Professional Development Plan
- Submit to Human Resources promptly copies of all required documentation regarding degrees, licenses, certifications, clearances, and formal training
- Maintain professional licensure and, when applicable, specialized certification in the designated state(s)
- Possess and apply knowledge of all laws, regulations, contractual requirements, and agency policies and procedures governing the services performed
- Provide direct clinical service delivery as defined by the program description, and best practice standards and in full compliance with licensure standards
- Possess and apply knowledge of the standards and ethical principles of the best practice of behavioral healthcare relevant to the programs
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, agency personnel, and the general public
- Maintain professional relationships with payers and community support service representatives
- Assist with the development of expansion of services or with the development of new services
- Submit accurate and timely payroll and billing documentation
- Possess and apply knowledge of the principles and methods of clinical supervision
- Provide direct clinical supervision to relevant direct care staff as needed
- Provide clinical consultation for programs as needs dictate
- Review assessment of client functioning level, strengths, needs, and progress relative to treatment plan requirements
- Interpret and evaluate varied psychiatric data, prepare reports or findings, and develop and implement recommendations
- Possess and apply knowledge of mental illnesses and disability, their symptoms, treatment, and social implications
- Participate in training
- Conduct clinical chart reviews
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Experience:
- Master's degree in nursing, preferably in psychiatric nursing
- One year of post-degree experience, with prescriptive authority
- Licensed as a CRNP (or equivalent) in the state(s) in which services are to be provided
- Full DEA certification for prescribing Schedule II, III, IV, and V medications
- Formal collaboration agreement with a supervision psychiatrist approved by the state
