Age Specific Responsibility
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned department. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider (“APP”) will be responsible for delivering high-quality healthcare to our employee workforce. APP will work independent of daily physician oversight and recognize when the need for physician consultation through the supervising physician (Chief Medical Officer). Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, the APP must demonstrate independent judgment in the assessment and treatment of a broad scope of Occupation and Employee health services. APP must demonstrate aptitude in a wide-range Employee and Occupational healthcare services, including pre-employment exams, injury prevention, wellness programs, medical treatment planning, laboratory and medical screening, health and fitness-for-duty, and case management/educational support for employees, family members, and, as needed, community partners. The APP will work closely with our growing Occupational and Employee health team, and referral providers, to provide a comprehensive team approach of care to our employees.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by Federal and State laws and regulations, and in accordance with approved protocols in an Occupation and Employee health clinical environment.
- Function in the role of Advanced Practitioner Provider to provide coordinated comprehensive care delivery in the outpatient setting serving patients (employees, family members, and, where appropriate community partners).
- Writes orders/prescriptions for standard formulary medications when needed to ensure patient health and well-being.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests.
- Maintaining comfortable, orderly, safe, and clean environments.
- Provide routine information related to medical treatments and procedures.
- Gather health histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop and implement treatment plans.
- Notify managing physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems.
- Effectively communicate with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families
- Receive telephone calls or other inquiries from the patient, evaluating the problem, and developing a plan of care.
- Good documentation skills to maintain current patient medical records and demonstrates competence in navigating and appropriate documentation in paper and/or electronic medical record.
- Assess the educational needs of the patients, significant others, and health care team to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise health-care strategies and education specific to the patient’s medical and psychosocial needs.
- Display positive outlook and pleasant manner, including maintaining effective relations, tact, and consideration. Offer assistance and support to co-workers. Work actively to resolve conflicts. Work cooperatively with group situations but is self-driven and self-supportive as well.
- Create measurements for healthcare outcomes and evaluate services across the continuum of outpatient services. Make recommendations to improve the quality of patient care provided and utilizes the scientific method to research clinical problems.

- Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars, and other related activities. Maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for all responsibilities. Complete required training and education, including department specific requirements.
- Ensure that services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation/compliance requirements. Observe safety and security procedures. Report potentially unsafe conditions. Use equipment and materials properly.
- Perform such individual assignments as management may direct. Establishes and maintain effective working relationships within the organization. Provides information to senior levels of management on the implication of policies and procedures being formulated and recommends specific action.
- Function as a patient advocate, crossing multidisciplinary lines to meet patient needs. Communicate, collaborate, network with, and function as a consultant to other members of the health care team associated with Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation.
- Liaison between employee and manager regarding work-related health issues/restrictions while maintaining confidential employee medical information.
- Servs as a resource for patients, families, team members, and community for information related to patient populations served.

Essential Job Qualifications
- 3 - 5 years clinical nursing experience and understanding of Occupation & Employee Health work environments (medicine, employment physicals, good orthopedic/musculoskeletal skills, dynamic people skills, excellent communication skills, professional confidence, and be an independent thinker).
- Master’s degree in nursing or physician assistant with appropriate certifications that are verifiable and in good standing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Working knowledge of state and federal regulations, including, HIPPA, ADA, FMLA, OSHA regulations and worker’s compensation principles.
- Excellent problem solving and initiative skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent people skills, with the ability to build relationships with employees and health team(s)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Job Qualifications
- Previous experience as a NP or PA in an Occupation and Employee health setting.
