Nurse Extern - LPN Program - Hannibal Regional Hospital

POSITION PURPOSE:

To allow the student nurse to work as an employee, providing patient care under the supervision of a License Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse while earning clinical credit toward a specific clinical/nursing course.

SPECIFICATIONS (Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Licensure, Certification, Registration):

• Nursing student entering clinical portion of LPN program
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with others, including being a patient advocate
• Ability to prioritize patient needs and tasks
• BLS validation through American Heart Association
• Provide most current skills checklist from nursing school with instructor’s signature
• Ability to provide basic to complex nursing skills and interventions
• Ability to exhibit professional appearance and behavior and accepts responsibility for own behavior
• Ability to demonstrate respect for diversity and sensitivity to cultural differences
