We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Accounting Manager for an immediate need. This is an exciting opportunity for an Accounting professional with a solid background in non-profit accounting. Our ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of grant management, grant accounting, month-end close, and year-end close. This role will offer you the chance to work with a dedicated team in a fast-paced environment, where you can truly make a difference. With your expertise, you will help us continue our mission while ensuring our financial operations are running efficiently and effectively.
As an Accounting Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
1. Overseeing all aspects of grant management and grant accounting, ensuring compliance with funding source administrative guidelines, timely receipt of revenue, accurate submission of financial reports, and proper recording of grant expenditures.
2. Managing the month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation of financial statements and other reports to ensure accuracy and adherence to reporting and procedural standards.
3. Coordinating with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
4. Providing strategic guidance and leadership on financial matters, including budget management, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting needs, and securing new funding.
5. Developing and implementing financial policies and procedures to ensure transparency and accountability.
6. Collaborating with other department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
7. Training and mentoring junior staff, fostering an environment of learning and growth.
Qualifications we are seeking:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a non-profit accounting role with a focus on grant management and grant accounting.
2. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A CPA or MBA is highly desirable.
3. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal and state legislation affecting non-profits.
4. Proven experience with month-end close, year-end close, and financial reporting.
5. Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
7. High level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm, and confidentiality.
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.
