Network Operations Center Technician I

Job Summary:
The Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician I at Wecom Fiber will play a critical role in monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the telecommunications and fiber optic network infrastructure. Expertise in telecommunications and fiber technologies, coupled with technical skills and proactive approach, will ensure the smooth operation and reliability of the network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor the network systems, equipment, and services using network monitoring tools and systems to identify and resolve network issues promptly.
- Respond to network alarms, alerts, and incidents, following established procedures and protocols to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems affecting network performance.
- Perform network diagnostics, fault isolation, and root cause analysis to identify and address network outages, service disruptions, and performance degradation.
- Collaborate with internal teams, field technicians, and vendors to escalate and resolve complex network issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal service downtime.
- Document network incidents, resolutions, and maintenance activities in the ticketing system, incident reports, and knowledge base to track network performance, trends, and improvements.
- Conduct network performance monitoring, capacity planning, and proactive maintenance to optimize network resources and prevent potential issues.
- Support network configuration changes, software upgrades, and maintenance tasks following change management processes, best practices, and industry standards specific to networks.
- Utilize telecommunications and fiber-specific network monitoring tools, SNMP protocols, and performance management systems to monitor and analyze network performance and availability.
- Troubleshoot network issues, connectivity problems, and performance degradation using diagnostic tools, packet capture analysis, and network testing methodologies.
- Configure and maintain telecommunications and fiber network devices, routers, switches, firewalls, and access points to ensure network operation, security, and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with network engineers, system administrators, and technical teams to implement telecommunications and fiber network changes, upgrades, and configurations as needed.
- Follow NOC procedures, incident response plans, and operational guidelines to maintain telecommunications and fiber network integrity, availability, and security.
- Stay informed about telecommunications and fiber technologies, industry trends, and best practices to enhance technical skills and troubleshooting capabilities in a dynamic NOC environment.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Network Administration, or a related field; or 2+ years of experience in NOC support in the telecommunications and fiber industry.
- Knowledge of network protocols, telecommunications and fiber technologies, and troubleshooting techniques specific to telecommunications and fiber networks.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a dynamic telecommunications and fiber environment.
- Basic understanding of network configurations, telecommunications and fiber infrastructure, and network monitoring tools.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills to work with network teams and IT professionals in the telecommunications and fiber sector.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills in telecommunications and fiber installations, maintenance, and field operations.
