Requirements
- Must maintain DoD 8570/8140 compliance with Security+ or similar and OS training/cert
- 0-5 years of related experience in Information Systems, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related area or occupational field
- Experience researching the latest data center technologies and the ability to implement security standards in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of general networking concepts and protocols such as routing, switching, subnetting, TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS, and TLS
- Basic knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies and experience installing, configuring, and managing VMware-based environments
- Basic knowledge of NetApp storage arrays and experience installing, configuring, and managing them in NAS or SAN configurations supporting virtualized environments
- Basic knowledge of operating systems such as Microsoft Windows 10 or newer, Windows Server 2019 or newer, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 or derivative Linux distributions; knowledge of other Linux distributions such as Debian/Ubuntu, Arch, and Gentoo are equally acceptable
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) environments (Navy / USMC) and the Joint Information Environment (JIE), and experience administering and operating systems within them
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting networking issues, and experience with Cisco IOS and NX-OS
- Beginner to intermediate level knowledge of network attached storage, storage area networks, or NetApp ONTAP storage systems and/or NetApp OnCommand Insight
- Experience using or managing Cohesity disaster recovery solutions
- Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash scripting, Ansible automation, etc.
- Microsoft, Red Hat, VMware, NetApp, and Cisco certifications are preferred; RHCSA/RHCE, VCP/VCIX, NCDA, CCNA/CCNP
Description
- Supports the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic Enterprise Infrastructure Modernization project by providing architecture, design, and engineering support to Marine Corps Systems Command and the Marine Corps Cyberspace Operations Group for enterprise services and data center technologies
- Performs market research on new and emerging technologies, works with vendors to acquire sample hardware, and executes evaluations
- Documents test and evaluation results that compare evaluated technologies; provides recommendations to government customers
- Works with customers and vendors to generate customized configurations that meet customer requirements and vendor/industry best practices and guide procurement through the acquisition process
- Designs and implements data center technologies incorporating these new and emerging technologies into existing customer environments
- Develops engineering artifacts such as drawings, system version descriptions (SVD), and system sub-system design documents (SSDD) to document new architectures
- Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots systems to comply with DISA Security Technical Information Guides (STIG) and Security Requirements Guides (SRG)
- Guides new systems through the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) process from beginning to end
- Participates in all phases of the process from categorization to self-assessment
- Assists the ISSM/ISSO and system operators with IV-V and continuous monitoring
- Works with customers to understand existing data center deployments and assists in planning and execution of data center deployments, migrations, and decommissioning
- Becomes a subject matter expert in relevant technologies to provide engineering and design guidance to customers and system operators
- Provides assistance to system operators as required and work with vendors to resolve problems
- Travels to both CONUS and OCONUS sites in support of fielding and migration efforts. (Up to 20% travel)
- Automates deployment and configuration using tools such as Ansible and PowerShell
- Independently identifies relevant technologies and develops new skills
- Remains informed about DoD cyber security policies, processes, and requirements and how they apply to relevant technologies
