CBTS is in search of a highly skilled and reliable Cabling Technician to join our hospital’s facilities and IT infrastructure team. The Cabling Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network cables, communication systems, and associated hardware across the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of cabling standards, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation of Network Cabling: Install, configure, and maintain structured cabling systems for both voice and data networks, ensuring proper connectivity for all departments.
- System Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and repairs on existing cabling systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability of critical communication systems.
- Testing and Troubleshooting: Conduct testing of cable systems (fiber, CAT 5/6, coaxial, etc.) to identify and resolve any connectivity issues. Troubleshoot and repair cable-related problems as they arise.
- Cable Management: Ensure that cables are organized, properly labeled, and safely routed to avoid interference with hospital operations and to meet safety codes.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of cable layouts, installation progress, and any changes made to the system. Update and manage cabling schematics and technical diagrams.
- Compliance with Standards: Ensure all cabling work complies with hospital safety regulations, health codes, and industry standards such as TIA/EIA-568 and IEEE specifications.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification (e.g., BICSI, CompTIA Network+) is a plus.
- Proven experience in cabling and network installations, preferably in a critical infrastructure setting.
- Strong knowledge of cabling types (fiber optic, CAT5/6, coaxial), tools, and testing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, cabling diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with relevant safety standards and codes for electrical and cabling work.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights (using ladders and lifts).
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures
