Job Description and Responsibilities
ESM is looking for a full-time Network Administrator - Intermediate who demonstrates the following capabilities and satisfies the Minimum Qualifications, Clearance, and Certification requirements. Employee responsibilities include:
As a Network Engineer, the individual will design, build, support, administer, maintain, patch network devices while responding to incidents, and recovering from service degradations and outages. In this role, the Network Engineer will support all network capabilities across all supported environments/enclaves. In addition, the Network Administrator's duties include all network administration incidents, assets, and services. The Network Engineer should have experience in the following management and technical areas:
- Installs, integrates, sustains, patches, recovers, and manages the lifecycle of network devices across all supported environments and sites.
- Coordination with external agencies for Production and COOP sites for network configuration of the circuits and VPN on both the NIPR and SIPR. Knowledge of the RSN (Recruiting Services Network) would be beneficial.
- PPS (Ports, Protocols, and Services) Development and maintenance for both Production and COOP environments.
- Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
- Reporting network operational status by gathering/prioritizing information; managing projects.
- Work with Technical Director, Sr. System Engineer, Operations Manager, and Development Team on Network requirements, security changes and documentation.
- LAN Knowledge, DNS, proxy servers, Networking Design and Implementation, Network Troubleshooting, Network Hardware Configuration, and Network Performance Tuning.
- Understanding of the organizational security standards for operating configurations, security constraints, and procedures for managing organization software.
- Ability to work with system/network engineers to engage in joint project planning.
- Ability to configure TCP/IP, network interfaces and IP security.
- Knowledge of configuration management and quality assurance concepts and guidelines such as STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides), IAVAs (Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert), DoD security standards, AGILE, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Institute of Electrical, and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), and Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
- Knowledge of networking and network-based software applications including Wireshark, SolarWinds, etc.
- Maintaining IT system patching schedules.
- Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) findings and resolution.
- Knowledge and experience in operations and maintenance of COOP services and system backup to maintain high availability.
- The engineer should have knowledge of the following hardware implementations: Cisco firewalls, switches, and routers (including Nexus 7k, Firepower, 2960 switches, F5 load balancers, etc.).
- Understanding of switching (VLANs, Layer 2 technologies such as MAC addresses) and routing functions (how routing flows, basic understanding of OSPF and BGP routing protocols).
- Knowledge of Cisco ISE/TACACS.
- Plans, coordinates, executes, troubleshoots, and documents change requests, as well as both monthly and out-of-cycle ASI events, to perform moves, adds, and changes to network services and technologies, and apply and validate cyber security patches are installed on managed assets

Minimum Training, Education, and Certifications
- Security+ certification.
- Cisco CCNA certification
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network engineering/administration.
- Bachelor's degree in IT or related field is preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Required to stand, walk and sit; communicate verbally both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking (including stairs) throughout offices and between buildings. May require use of public transportation, personal or Government vehicle to drive to local and/or remote office locations.
