Serco supports the Navy as prime for the Amphibious Assault & Connectors Program Office Professional Support Services contract. The Planning Yard team supports the Landing Craft Division in the maintenance of the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), the configuration and engineering management of the new Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1700, and the new Ship to Shore Connector (SSC).
In this role you will work closely with the government Planner on the scheduling, coordinating, ordering of parts, obtaining vendor quotes, and all aspects of availability (maintenance) planning for the craft. This position is located onsite at Assault Craft Unit 4 (ACU 4) in Little Creek, VA.
In this role you will:
- Act as a liaison between Serco and Government customer as the Planner On-Site Representative (OSR) for LCAC and SSC technical and availability planning and support.
- Assign LCAC advanced planning maintenance availabilities for individual LCACs programmed for each Fiscal Year.
- Enter work packages for LCAC and LCAC 100 into the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) and Validation, Screening, and Brokering (VSB).
- Prepare craft availability work specifications for Program Office funded availabilities.
- Provide labor and material estimates and availability of material to support specific availability.
- Prepare preliminary work specification packages for the fleet.
- Complete work items to appropriate planner for work specification preparation.
- Coordinate with OSRs throughout the fleet on all facets of availability planning.
- Provide accurate material estimate and delivery dates for both Government Furnished Material and Contractor Furnished Material.
- Coordinate and conduct on-site Pre-Overhaul Test and Inspection (POT&I) for planned availabilities.
- Assist the Planning Yard in performing on-site craft inspections at the Units, which requires traversing ladders and working in small spaces.
- Conduct research using Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) One Touch, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) EMall, HAYSTACK, and Parts Logistics.
- Develop lists of Government-Furnished Material (GFM).
- Analyze craft repair procedures and drawings to develop craft-specific parts lists from a master parts list file using MS Excel. Parts list data includes, but is not limited to, drawing numbers, part numbers, pricing, description, performance specifications, and vendor contact information.
- Examine naval work specifications to determine which reference drawings are required for an individual craft. Assure the correctness of drawing revisions.
- Analyze drawing Lists of Material (LOM) to create craft-specific parts lists using Excel.
- Manipulate, sort, archive, and update large data files in Excel.
- Contact vendors to acquire pricing and lead times for various electro-mechanical parts and components.
- Utilize the Integrated Data Environment (IDE) to submit and acquire various data to maintain and distribute as requested up-to-date technical data.
- Perform updates to all Data Locker hard drives assigned to ACU 4. Ensure the unit has the latest and most accurate information installed and available to the Maintenance Technicians and Craft Crew of ACU 4.
- Provide material management support to Pre-Overhaul Test and Inspections
- (POT&Is) on USN craft and liaise with work specification writers, other OSRs, technical writers, and the government Availability Planning Manager.
- Must be able to travel in support of the program as required.
- Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, and work in small spaces.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 15 years of applicable work experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance post-employment
- Experience working in the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) and Validation, Screening, and Brokering (VSB) tools or equivalent is required.
- Prior experience with LCAC and/or LCUs is required.
- Experience writing maintenance work packages for maritime vessels is required.
- Knowledge of maritime terminology is required.
- Experience with reading and interpreting drawings/blueprints and Technical Manuals is required.
- Proven experience and proficiency using Microsoft (MS) Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other MS programs is required.
- Strong customer service and communication skills are required.
- Can travel up to 10% of the year to support in availability planning and inspections.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- An understanding of drawings and components of maritime construction is strongly desired.
- Experience conducting inspections on maritime vessels is strongly desired.
