Position Description:
The NPI Engineer is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating customers' new product or process development programs by providing technical guidance or assessment in the design, development, assembly, or test engineering disciplines within product engineering.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage BOM structuring, BOM risk grading, and 2nd source.
- Develop documentation to support production (work instructions, flow charts, procedures, routings, etc.) • Design manufacturing processes and manage layouts of manufacturing plants, tools, jigs, and assembly lines. • Key contributor in site ISO 9001certification and ongoing internal cGMP audits.
- Perform FMEA on new and mature product to increase product yield.
- Perform new product introduction hardware and software QA testing as required for each release. • Work with Quality team to maintain up to date documents and provide corrections and identify improvements as necessary.
- Audit company's internal processes to ensure they comply with ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949 standards. • Actively participate in design reviews and provide input to new electronic circuit designs. • Play a major role in implementing Lean Manufacturing within the plant.
- Be a key player in resolving yield issues.
- Project manage product enhancements from design divisions.
Qualifications:
- Experience in production planning, scheduling, or related manufacturing process control. • BA degree or better in an engineering discipline required; Electrical, Mechanical, or Production/Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
- Proven track record in development of manufacturing process steps.
- 2+ years in a medical device or comparable hi-tech environment
- ISO 9001 experience.
- Demonstrated project management and communications skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent documentation skills.
NPI Engineer
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with semi-automated manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of quality systems & standards, ISO
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma an advantage.
- Experience with electro-mechanical systems such as electric/hydraulic systems, PLC control of mechanical equipment.
- Experience should be at minimum of 5 years and knowledge on the Operations environment and new product introduction.
