About the Job
The NICU Care Assistant performs nursing procedures and patient care tasks under the general supervision of a professional staff nurse. Attends to personal needs and comfort of patients and performs a variety of other duties to assist the staff nurse responsible for these patients. The incumbent provides support for the Milk Lab in the NICU. The NICU Care Assistant, although supervised, proceeds alone on routine tasks, referring questionable situations to the appropriate staff nurse or nursing supervisor. Specifications: High school graduate and completion of an approved Nursing Assistant Training program required. Must have and maintain a current Rhode Island Department of Health CNA license and CPR certification. Maintains any other credentials or certifications necessary to be competent as a NICU Care Assistant. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be proficient in the English language. Demonstrated mathematical proficiency required.
