A bit about us:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Mortgage Underwriter to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in our mortgage operations by evaluating and approving or denying loan applications based on creditworthiness and financial feasibility. You will be responsible for assessing loan risk, reviewing financial and credit documents, and making final decisions regarding the approval or denial of mortgage loan applications.

Responsibilities:
1. Review and analyze loan applications and supporting documents to assess the borrower's creditworthiness.
2. Evaluate the borrower's income, credit reports, employment history, and property valuations to determine the loan's risk.
3. Approve or reject loan applications based on the organization's policies and current mortgage regulations.
4. Prepare and send detailed reports of your findings and decisions.
5. Work closely with loan officers and loan processors to gather necessary documents and verify the accuracy of the information.
6. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including FHA, USDA, and VA loan guidelines.
7. Keep up-to-date with changes in policies and regulations in the mortgage industry.
8. Provide excellent customer service by answering loan-related questions and addressing any concerns raised by the borrower.
9. Participate in loan closings, ensuring that all necessary steps have been completed.
10. Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding our products and the mortgage industry.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mortgage Underwriter.
2. Extensive knowledge and experience with residential mortgages, home loans, conventional mortgage loans, and loan closing processes.
3. Strong understanding of FHA, USDA, and VA loan processes, guidelines, and regulations.
4. Familiarity with DE certification.
5. Proficiency in gathering borrower documents and evaluating creditworthiness.
6. Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills.
7. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
8. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
9. Proficiency in using mortgage loan software and other related computer applications.
10. A degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
