POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for overseeing and maximizing productivity and efficiency within the mortgage lending team. Assist with mortgage projects, reporting, processes, and procedures. Provide administrative support to the Mortgage Department with reports, locks, appraisals, and compliance duties. Some rate sheet development including rates, pricing, adjustments, and matrices may also be necessary. Ensure that lending operations are in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This position is fast paced, deadline driven, and offers a variety of tasks throughout the day.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Participate in developing lending policies and procedures and ensure that they complement organizational goals.
- Assist department in project scoping, planning, research, project tasks and completion.
- Identify gaps in current processes and provide solutions.
- Develop and complete required reports and related documents promptly and accurately, and in compliance with Credit Union current processes.
- Assist established goals and coordinate their implementation with other departments.
- Assist MLOs and support staff with pricing registration questions and procedures.
- Accurately and efficiently enter loan information required for locking, relocking, modifying, and extending mortgage commitments.
- Verify pricing on all lock requests and confirmation.
- Test and problem solve new programs and products in multiple software systems.
- Commit loans with 3rd Party Investors via the internet, phone, or email prior to daily investor deadlines.
- Assist MLOs and support staff with pricing registration questions and procedures.
- Help track and review the pipeline of agency loans to ensure commitments are met.
- Reconcile daily locks.
- Responsible for sending Notes to investors within time constraints.
- Provide price quotes for rates not published on rate sheets.
- Assist with the quality control process within the mortgage department.
- Respond to and track monthly audit reports and findings.
- Assist with HMDA filing.
- Assist with annual HMDA filing.
- Order appraisals for all lending departments.
- Ensure that lending activities are conducted in accordance with established policy guidelines and standards and are properly documented.
- Ensure that the Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained throughout lending and business transactions with members.
- Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
- Associate degree or an additional 3 years' work experience may be substituted.
- Formal loan training and experience required.
Required Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Conventional, FHA and VA rate locks.
- Thorough knowledge of mortgage loan products, policies and procedures.
- Ability to accurately analyze financial data and interpret various investor and agency requirements and relate them to the appropriate tasks.
- Thorough understanding of Credit Union loan processes.
- Extensive knowledge of related computer applications.
Experience Required:
- Five to eight years of similar or related experience.
- Knowledge of underwriting requirements and regulations.
Skills/Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational, managerial, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and attention to detail is critical.
- High level of analytical skills with an aptitude for math, which includes calculating percentages.
- Computer skills to operate various software programs, including exceptional accuracy and completeness in data entry. Industry related software includes Encompass, EPPS, Fannie Mae, FHLB, Outlook, Excel, Symitar, & FICS.
