About the Job
A well-established medical services organization in New York City is seeking to add a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to their team. In this role, the Phlebotomist will provide high-quality care through the collection of blood samples and other specimens, ensuring they are accurately processed for diagnostic purposes.
About the Opportunity
- Start Date: ASAP
- Setting: Clinic
- Schedule: 5 shifts per week (Monday to Friday, MUST work 2 weekends per month)
- Hours: 10-hour shifts, starting at either 8:00 AM or 10:00 AM.
Responsibilities:
- Collect blood samples and other specimens from patients for laboratory testing.
- Ensure specimens are properly labeled, handled, and transported.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records and documentation.
- Provide patient care with cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and compassion.
- Adhere to all clinical and safety standards, protocols, and performance metrics.
- Participate in continuing education and training programs as required by the state and organization.
- Lead your practice with a patient-centered approach, ensuring excellent care delivery.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current, unrestricted NY State Phlebotomy certification.
- Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in home care, field experience, public health, outpatient settings, hospice, or similar environments.
- Phlebotomy experience required.
- Clinical experience with pediatrics and vital sign assessments is preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in outpatient, hospital, or critical care settings is a plus.
- Ability to work independently with support from telehealth when needed.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with patients and families.
- Physical ability to lift 50-60 lbs as needed.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in home healthcare or community-based care is highly desirable.
- Compassionate and culturally sensitive approach to patient care.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
