Mobile Phlebotomist - Lab Assistant I (Home Draw) - Full-Time

A Lab Assistant I - Phlebotomist preforms adult and pediatric Phlebotomy, in addition to daily tasks including, centrifuging, aliquoting and stabilizing patient specimens for transport via courier to the main campus lab or via the pneumatic tube system. Accurately register patients, insurance verification and verifying all patient demographics. Scheduling home draws.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Performs proper venipuncture and post care of phlebotomy site along with labeling each specimen with 2 forms of ID with zero labeling errors.
- Perform registration and requisitioning and proper use of Meditech, Accureg and Cayuga connect. Participates in quality assurance and maintains inter and intra departmental work flow.
- Helps minimize butterfly usage throughout the PSC"s, maintains professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Maintains adequate inventory and all checklists and is able to trouble shoot when temperatures are out of range and assist with daily, weekly and monthly checklist completion.
- Maintain a compliant environment, including adherence to all lab and hospital procedures, HIPPAA standards and safety guidelines.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational phlebotomy (or related) course/program completion or 2 years working phlebotomy experience.
- Valid New York State Drivers License.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Problem solving ability and attention to detail is preferred
- Good written and oral communication skills preferred.
- Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes.
Physical Requirements:
- May require light lifting (up to 10 Lbs.) and carrying supplies.
- Repetitive use of hands (e.g. computer keyboard usage), sitting, walking or standing for long periods of time is often necessary.
Location and Travel Requirements:
- Onsite at 101 Dates Dr, Ithaca, NY 14850, with travel to various locations through the area on a daily basis
- Shift: Full-Time - Days
- Daily Area Travel can be expected in this role (this is a mobile position)
Pay Range Disclosure:
- Standard Rate of $17.79 to $24.04 per hour plus benefits
