CNY Feeds, a family-owned feed mill located in Jordan, NY is seeking a highly self-motivated individual to fill the full-time position as a Feed Production Operator/Night Shift. We have been in business for 30+ years, primarily serving regional dairy farms, and have a fantastic team of hard-working and committed individuals in Jordan, NY – about 10 miles west of Syracuse.
This individual will be responsible for operating computer batching systems to mix feed, enter and print feed formulas and medication tags, as well as monitor ingredient bin capacities and maintain sufficient ingredient bin levels for the mixing system. In addition, this individual will need to receive and unload incoming trucks as needed. Other warehouse duties may be assigned as necessary.
Pay starts at $23 / hr; higher depending on experience and skill set. Includes full healthcare benefits and opportunity for semi-annual performance bonus that can exceed 15% of annual wages. This position requires an eye for detail, basic math skills, and physical strength as well as a positive attitude and solid work ethic.
Responsibilities:
- Review, sign off, and enter feed formulas into our feed production software.
- Log and ensure production formulas and shipment details are accurate.
- Take phone and email orders from customer and log appropriately for the operator team.
- Complete and maintain paperwork as required for CNYF safety and FSMA programs.
- Monitor ingredient bin capacities and maintain sufficient levels for other operators.
- Perform loadout and warehouse duties as needed.
- Performs general cleaning duties, including related record keeping.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures and safety requirements.
- Performs other related duties in and around the mill as needed.
Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the General Manager.
Requirements
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, as well as area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to read, comprehend and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form applying common sense understanding.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and related software.
- Ability to perform job duties, self-manage time and problem solve independently.
- Previous experience in agriculture preferred.
- Good physical condition: can regularly stand; walk; climb; use hands; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; able to regularly life and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to frequently climb, or balance; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Exposure to working near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions; vibration; and high levels of dust (appropriate PPE provided by employer).
- Exposure to work in high places and noise level in the work environment can be loud (appropriate PPE provided by employer).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
