About the Job
The Missouri State Teachers Association is seeking an independent, self-directed individual to serve as a Member Service Coordinator (MSC) in eastern MO. The individual will help teachers and other school-related personnel access MSTA member services, benefits, and job-related information. Member Service Coordinators are key employees for the Association, serving as the 'face of MSTA' and local area experts on all things MSTA.
Employee will work from a home office or the headquarters in MO depending on location. If a home office, employee must have a land-based, broadband Internet connection. Preference given to those candidates that live in or are willing to relocate to one of the following counties: Lincoln, Franklin, Warren, St. Charles, and Montgomery. Field area will be dependent on the location of the employee but may not include all of these counties. The position requires extensive travel within the area and regular, approximately monthly, trips to the MSTA Headquarters in Columbia, MO.
The successful candidate must be flexible, creative and patient when responding to member and coworker inquires. They must also be able to work independently and juggle a demanding workload.

Summary:
The Member Service Coordinator has primary responsibility for promoting membership, serving members and cultivating leadership in their assigned service area. This person is the 'face of MSTA' and is responsible for creating and maintaining strong relationships with members, CTAs, regions and other organizational stakeholders. The person in this position informs members about events, legislative activity, association news and developments, They also support members and CTA’s by coordinating and attending meetings/workshops, distributing information, and being available to research and answer questions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Service Area: The person in this role serves as the primary member service coordinator for a defined number of CTAs. The regular responsibilities of this role include the following:
- Members: Assists members in resolving employment-related legal issues, answers members’ questions on various education topics, and assists members in addressing membership-related issues such as MSTA services and membership renewal.
- CTAs: Makes regular visits to all assigned school districts, with emphasis on those where CTAs and membership growth potential exist. Arranges MSTA services, assists and advises CTA leaders, cultivates local leadership, and assists the MSTA Accounting Department with dues payment and membership issues.
- Region: Work with leaders in the assigned regions and attend region events as necessary.
- MSTA Events: The person in this role will work at MSTA functions and events as assigned, including the annual leadership conference and convention.
- Knowledge Development: The person in this role will cultivate an understanding of laws that affect schools and teachers, keep informed of pending school legislation and education issues and have a thorough understanding of MSTA services and member benefits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Manages department/program budget and equipment according to MSTA guidelines.
- Uses their time and resources effectively and efficiently.
- Cooperates with all MSTA staff and encourages them to effectively serve association members

Required Experience:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Five years of experience in a related field such as education, sales, customer service or similar
Skills and Abilities:
- Communication: The MSC must be an excellent communicator, in both written and oral form. This includes proficiency in spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Organization: The MSC needs to be highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Discretion: Discretion and sensitivity regarding confidential information is a must.
- Team Work: Our staff works together cooperatively to provide the highest quality support to our members. The unity, camaraderie and culture of the team is something that’s very important to us. Therefore, we’re looking for someone who is a good fit with our other team members, and who is comfortable sharing projects and responsibilities with others.

- Technologically Proficient: The MSC should be proficient in Office products, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel. While experience with other technology platforms that we use is ideal, including Salesforce, Concur, and other Office 365 products such Teams, OneDrive and Planner, etc., we are willing to train the right candidate. However, the ability to embrace and learn new technology quickly is an absolute must. We also prefer someone who is an Apple computer and software user.

Physical Demands:
- Generally sedentary position with occasional need to move about facility including external facilities.
- Must be able to manipulate objects, tools or controls and reach.

- Required to travel several hours to events and occasionally stay overnight
- Must occasionally move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of the job, the noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
Special Requirements:
- Must have transportation for extensive travel within the designated field area
- Must have valid Missouri driver’s license and insurance
