Medication Clinic Assistant ($15/hour) - South County Mental Health Center

About the Job
CLIENT CARE:
· To assess and coordinate crisis intervention in emergency situations involving clients either in person or by telephone such as, but not
limited to, medication side effects, suicidal or homicidal ideation, or necessary changes in medication.
· Refer clients to SCMHC services at Physician request.
· Schedule client appointments for the assigned MDs.
· Provide letters for clients (general typing) for assigned MDs.
RECORDKEEPING/DOCUMENTATION:
· Do client admission to Medication Clinic in TIER.
· Be responsible for documentation in the Medical Record relating to the client case in accordance with Center procedures and
requirements.
· Update client addresses to IS dept.
· Review returned MD SARs for corrections
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT:
· Review accuracy of client Medical Record prior to MD visit for needed signatures, forms, etc.
· Attend scheduled staff meetings or other QI team meetings,
· Review MD documentation (treatment plan and review, tracking sheet, progress note, MAR).
All other duties as assigned
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
· Demonstrate the ability to interpret and abide by confidentiality laws, abuse reporting guidelines, clients rights requirements, and abide
by a code of ethical and practice standards.
· Knowledge of the operation of a medical office. Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse related issues.
· Basic knowledge of medications used in treatment.
· Good writing skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills.
· Working knowledge of PC.
· General typing skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· High School diploma or GED equivalency with healthcare experience (required)
· Associates degree in Human Services and/or at least one year experience in mental health setting (preferred)
· Medical Assistant or CNA Certification (preferred)
· Bilingual (preferred)
