About the Job
Sante Health System is ready to add a fulltime Scribe to our Central Valley Women's Health Associates (CVWHA) medical office in Fresno, CA. This position is responsible for assisting the provider with documentation of the medical record of each patient's visit accurately and efficiently.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years experience as a scribe, transcriptionist or related in a medical practice environment.
- Maintains continuing education in medical terminology and coding.

- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT-4 and ICD-9 coding.
- Knowledge of medical practice and procedure.
- Skill in correct spelling, grammar and use of English language.
- Skill in operating basic office equipment.
- Skill in written and oral communication with providers, patients, staff.
- Skill in customer service through professional and pleasant interactions with the public and staff.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for extensive periods of time.
- Ability to use designated reference materials.
- Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.
- Ability to adhere to work schedule and to adapt and respond positively to changing work conditions.
- Ability to foster a positive working atmosphere and problem-solve.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interview patient to obtain the medical history and current complaints.
- Direct the physician to patient needs and maintain patient flow in the department.
- Accompany the provider during the patient exam to document the physical exam, procedures, labs, radiology orders, medications and aftercare instructions as dictated by the physician.
- Document all routine procedures.
- Record any intervention or consultation with patient family members.
- Ensure the physician's orders are carried out.
- Diagnose and discharge the patient from visit per physician instruction.
- Ensure that documentation is complete through complete and accurate coding.
- Direct observation of patient/physician interaction to correlate exam results and diagnoses.
- Participate in enhancing work processes within the department as well as within the entire center as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned, excluding actual direct patient care.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Participate in maintaining a safe work/care environment for all patients, visitors and employees.
- Represent clinic in a positive and professional manner while performing duties and conducting clinic business.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality.
- In the spirit of teamwork, employees are expected to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties as requested.
