Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Medical Malpractice Associate Attorney to join our dynamic litigation team in Detroit. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in medical malpractice litigation and a strong track record in handling depositions, pre-trial discovery, mediations, and trials. The role requires a well-rounded attorney with excellent research, writing, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and competently in a fast-paced, complex legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently handle all phases of medical malpractice litigation, including depositions, discovery, mediations, and trial preparation.
- Draft motions, legal briefs, and correspondence, demonstrating a strong command of legal writing and analysis.
- Engage in oral argument in courtrooms and hearings, showcasing effective communication and presentation skills.
- Conduct thorough research on complex legal and medical issues, with a strong understanding of medical records and their application in legal cases.
- Interact directly with clients, providing clear communication and updates on case progress.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff in case management and strategy development.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years of experience in medical malpractice litigation.
- Deposition experience and proficiency in handling complex litigation matters.
- Strong legal research and writing skills, with experience drafting motions and legal briefs.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present in a professional and persuasive manner.
- A general understanding of medical records and their use in litigation.
- Familiarity with Michigan Court Rules, the Rules of Evidence, and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Comfort with learning new computer software and case management systems.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active member in good standing of the Michigan Bar.
