About the Job
Candidate will serve to support the Global Medical Information and Scientific Communications Team within Global Medical Affairs, reporting to the Director of Global Medical Information. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain business relationships with subject matter experts to ensure systems (IRMS, etc.) and process needs are being addressed and maintained, including evaluating current software and established processes to ensure optimal solutions. Candidate will work closely with Corporate IT specialists, third party vendors and Merz colleagues to provide technical support, graphic and program design, platform maintenance and drive new medical/scientific technology initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain data operating systems to support Medical Information (ex: IRMS and others):
- Develop and maintain business relationships with functional area subject matter experts to ensure system and process needs are being addressed and maintained, specific to medical information (such as the IRMS system)
- Manage evaluation process to ensure the best solution is selected for the identified need
- Work in tandem with Corporate IT to ensure new systems meet IT and compliance requirements
- Coordinate activities with third-party support organization to ensure adherence to expected service levels
- Manage process of selecting innovative solutions, RFP’s, vendor demos, evaluation and final selection along with implementation and support of new systems
- Implement efficient and cost-effective solutions for team and global medical and regional/country medical affairs
- Provide training and develop training materials for key users
- Create and update GMA specific SOPs that align with corporate IT
Establish and maintain data operating to support Scientific Communications (ex: Scientific Platforms and others):
- Develop and maintain business relationships with functional area subject matter experts to ensure system and process needs are being addressed and maintained, specific to scientific communications (such as scientific platforms)
- Collaborate and contribute to the evaluation process to ensure the best solution is selected for the identified need
- Contribute to the process of selecting innovative solutions, RFP’s, vendor demos, evaluations and final selection along with implementation and support of new systems
- Implement efficient and cost-effective solutions for team and global medical and regional/country medical affairs
- Provide training and develop training materials for key users
Software and Programming Management:
- Provide backend support and maintenance for multiple GMA analytical dashboards, supporting key users and trouble shooting issues to resolution in a timely manner
- Manage the expansion of solutions to cover regional counterparts
- Serve as technical expert in discussion with solutions providers, ensuring configuration where needed for document management systems, pharmaceutical regulations and applications
- Create process, system and data maps for applications including supporting team members with technical support as needed
- Work with users to gather and document requirements for new and existing applications, writing functional specifications for development teams
- Lead, write and support validation activities, ensuring cGxP project follow the validation SDLC, performing testing and coordinating testing with end users
Continuous updating of systems and development of novel systems, platforms and design projects:
- Keep up to date with upcoming changes to current solutions as well as new solutions that offer additional value
- Evaluate overlap in current and proposed systems and ensure resources are being allocated effectively
- Promote and support a new way of working with technology
- Independently explore, create and find novel technological solutions for the needs of global and regional medical information management and scientific communications
Technical & Functional Skills:
- Computer programming and extensive software skills across a variety of platforms
- Experience with medical information systems and/or graphic/infographic design
- Strong oral and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communication cross functionally
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with strong skills in independent project management
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and comfort with large variety of online meeting tools and AV equipment
- Ability to demonstrate teamwork and cross functional collaboration
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a professional manner
- Candidate must be open to working globally (occasionally very late/early meetings)
- Candidate must be able to innovate and find novel ways of accomplishing objectives
- Demonstrated analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- Experience with cGxP and SDLC
Minimum Qualifications:
- Require minimum BS degree in (Computer Science/Information Technology, Business Administration, Business Management)
- Minimum of 3- 5 years of work experience consistent with that expected of a Data Analyst/Computer Specialist or related fields to the job description
Preferred Qualifications:
- Maters Degree
- Prior experience working in a pharma and/or medical device environment
- Prior experience in the health sciences/medical information field
- Project management experience
