Working under the direction of the Director/Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education, the GME medical educator leads a variety of institution-wide efforts enhancing GME at Yale New Haven Hospital which sponsors more than 100 ACGME accredited training programs, 50 other accredited or institutionally sponsored programs, and approximately 1400 trainees. In this capacity, the medical educator will assist in supporting, developing, and maintaining strategies and plans for the Office of Graduate Medical Education. They will also function as a consultant and instructor to programs and program leadership for organizational and educational issues impacting program improvement and accreditation and assist learners and program leaders in developing individualized learning plans.

- 1. Acts to assist the Director/Sr. Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education in helping individual training programs meet national accreditation requirements.
- 2. Leads educational sessions for program directors on the development of competency -based goals and objectives and milestones for advancement.
- 3. Assists the GME Director for Educator Development and Associate DIO in planning, implementing, and evaluating faculty development workshops and courses, and in planning, administration, and evaluation of the GME Educator Distinction Pathway.
- 4. Assists the GME Director for Quality & Safety and Associate DIO in planning, administration, and evaluation of the GME Health Equity Quality & Safety Distinction Pathway.
- 5. Works with Director/Sr. Associate Dean of GME in the development of dashboards/learning portfolios for all programs.
- 6. Works with Director/Sr. Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education to develop standardized institutional evaluation forms and tools for assessment of core competencies.
- 7. Co-leads Special Reviews of residency/fellowship programs.
- 8. Works directly with residency/fellowship program directors in train the trainer programs to disseminate methods and tools in evaluation skills amongst their faculty.
- 9. Works with training program leaders and trainees to develop individual educational learning and study plans for residents preparing for in-training or Board examinations.
- 10. Develops performance improvement plans for residents having challenges in one or more of the ACGME competency domains.
- 11. Oversees Residents as Teachers program, Annual GME retreat; dashboarding ACGME Annual survey data and distributing results to programs.
- 12. Providing feedback to programs regarding Accreditation Data Systems (ADS) and Annual Program Evaluation (APE) submissions.
- 13. Contributing as a member of the Graduate Medical Education department?s management team.
EDUCATION
Masters level degree in education-related area is required. Ph. D or Ed.D. in education-related area is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Three (3) or more years experience in curriculum development, evaluation, assessment, and education workshop or course planning preferred. Prior experience in an educational leadership role or as an instructor, trainer, or similar role in the field of education preferred. Preference given to candidates who have experience with graduate medical education/undergraduate medical education and the ACGME.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Must possess strong technical skills in common education and office software including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Qualtrics (or similar survey tools), and familiarity with and ability to become proficient in education and data management software and learning management platforms such as Canvas and MedHub. Must have strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal relationship skills. Must be able to work independently and must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Must be able to train and facilitate groups of people and make small and large group presentations. Experience conducting validity and reliability studies preferred.
Additional Information:
For the Medical Educator position we are seeking an individual with a MS or higher in education, and at least three years of experience in curriculum development, evaluation, assessment and course planning. Must have strong organizational skills, be able to work independently, and have excellent communication and consultative skills to support residency and fellowship program directors. Demonstrated strength utilizing survey tools is also essential. In addition to continuous process improvement of the 150 Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs in existence today, you will be instrumental in assisting in an average of 1-3 new programs annually. You will collaborate on accreditation oversight with members of the graduate medical education team.
