Job Overview:
Hire Up Staffing is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Billing and Collections Representative to join a clientÂ’s healthcare team. The primary responsibility of this role is to optimize revenue, billing, and collections processes by efficiently handling claims, working with insurance payors, and providing support to the front office staff. This position demands strong technical knowledge of medical billing and coding, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to resolve complex billing issues while adhering to all confidentiality laws and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize best practices and strategies to optimize the revenue cycle, including billing and collections processes.
- Work with claims worklist and HUB to ensure timely resubmission of held or denied claims and follow-up on outstanding claims.
- Research and resolve coding, billing, and charge compliance issues, escalating problematic claims to payors as necessary.
- Manage an average daily workload of 24+ claims per day.
- Provide support to the front office staff on billing-related issues and data entry improvements.
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality laws, company policies, and applicable Federal and State regulations.
- Handle billing corrections, disputed claims, and appeals in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain effective communication with insurance payors, patients, and healthcare teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Practice Administrator or related to billing and patient care.
General Qualifications:
- Medical Billing & Terminology Certification.
- Two-year college degree preferred.
Required Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
- Intermediate knowledge of ICD-9/10 and CPT coding, insurance terminology, and billing software.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for transaction reconciliation.
- At least 4 years of recent experience in submitting corrected, additional information, disputed, and appealed medical claims.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patient care and business information.
- Proficient with computers, office equipment, MS 365, and email systems.
- Experience navigating and utilizing payor portals.
- Familiar with coordination of benefits (COB) resolution.
- Strong negotiation skills with experience in clearinghouse claims corrections and resubmissions.
- In-depth knowledge of Medicare, PPO, HMO, WC, and TPA payer billing guidelines.
- Experience with secondary and tertiary payor billing.
- Strong customer service skills in a medical administration or billing environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
