Job Summary
The Medical Assistant will assist orthopedic physicians and other healthcare providers with a variety of clinical and administrative tasks. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation of the orthopedic department and providing excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the application and removal of casts, splints, and braces.
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
- Obtain and record patient medical history, vital signs, and other pertinent information.
- Assist with minor orthopedic procedures and wound care.
- Educate patients on proper care and maintenance of casts and orthopedic devices.
- Schedule patient appointments, follow-ups, and procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized examination and treatment rooms.
- Manage and restock medical supplies and equipment.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Provide support in the coordination of patient referrals and diagnostic tests.
- Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an orthopedic setting.
- Proficient in the application and removal of casts, splints, and braces.
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic terminology and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to handle medical instruments and equipment.
- Capability to lift and assist patients as needed.
