Mechanical Services Technician - JPJ Staffing

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Services Technician III to manage mission-critical mechanical services and maintenance. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with service contracts and providing technical expertise in the installation, service, maintenance, and operation of mechanical equipment in a data center environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate must perform the following responsibilities effectively (other duties may be assigned):

• Handle all tasks performed by an HVAC Technician II.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, routine, and emergency repairs with minimal supervision on the following systems:
• Air and water-cooled reciprocating chillers
• Centrifugal and screw package chillers
• Natural gas boilers and unit heaters
• Electric duct heaters
• Cooling towers
• Pneumatic, DDC, and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controls
• HVAC air distribution systems, including AHUs, FCUs, fans, and similar devices
• Water pumps used in the HVAC industry
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and shop drawings related to HVAC systems.
• Perform air and water balancing with reasonable supervision.
• Continuously improve technical skills through on-the-job training and additional learning opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Work on-site (telecommuting is not permitted).
• Occasionally travel for work, as needed.

Qualifications:

To perform this role successfully, the candidate must meet the following qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Completion of basic air conditioning theory classes.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
• Minimum 5 years of large commercial HVAC service experience (6+ years preferred).

Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid Journeyman license or higher (required).
• EPA Universal Certification (required).
• Valid Virginia or Maryland driver’s license.

Additional Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for security clearance preferred (per customer requirements).
• Must pass all required client background checks and training.
