Position Details:
Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Pecos, TX & Houston, TX. Will move on average every 2 years based on projects.
Shift: Dayshift
Compensation: $85-$90K. $3,000 a month for housing per diem (subject to change). Full relocation on next move after completion of project.

Position Description:
The Mechanical Engineer will oversee the Engineer of Record's (EOR) mechanical team who is subcontracted to complete the mechanical specifications, piping design, calculations, and mechanical engineering solutions for the project. The Mechanical Engineer will work with Gemma's Project Engineering Manager (PEM) to ensure their work product meets the Contract requirements while ensuring the design is in line with Gemma's construction standards.
Take multiple trips to the EOR's office during the project design phase and a few longer trips to the site during construction/commissioning. Attend vendor meetings as required.
The Mechanical Engineer will be required to support project development by helping to create technical documents in response to Request for Proposals (RFP).
Read and understand project requirements for proposal activities
Provide review comments for customer specifications, plans, and other scope documents
Perform calculations for equipment sizing, heat balances, pipe sizing, auxiliary load estimate
Develop specifications to support procurement bid activity
Assist with bid evaluations and vendor technical selection to support the estimate
Read and understand project requirements for project execution, including contract documents, project scope book, technical plans, and specifications
Provide value engineering recommendations to the PEM for cost-saving installation, operational, and performance improvements
Review EOR mechanical drawings and specifications to confirm conformance with the Contract and Gemma standards and comment in a timely manner to support the project schedule
Review mechanical equipment vendor deliverables to confirm conformance with the Contract and Gemma standards and comment in a timely manner to support the project schedule
Conduct technical bid evaluations in support of equipment procurement process
Develop conformed specifications as required to purchase from selected equipment supplier
Prepare responses to client or owner's engineer comments on the design
Ensure field issues, associated with the mechanical design, that arise during installation and commissioning are addressed in a timely manner to support the project schedule
Requirements:
BS Mechanical Engineering
Engineer in Training (EIT) Mechanical Engineering
Experience with design/engineering for power plants or industrial facilities
Team player with good interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Well organized and able to participate in projects and meet deadlines
Possess strong problem-solving skills and be adept at working with a multi-disciplinary team.
