Description:
External Job Description The primary role of the candidate will be to assist in current projects involving material development of polymers, process development for extrusion and material characterization, part testing, printed electronics and failure analysis. The candidate will work in support of new process and product development projects sponsored by the Eaton Research Labs (ERL) and other Eaton businesses. Specific responsibilities and expectations of this position include:
1. Contribute to planning of assigned tasks
2. Execute assigned tasks in a timely and proficient manner
3. Provide timely and complete information and documentation related to the work performed
4. Exercise analytical and problem-solving abilities to resolve issues as they arise,
5. Learn and follow standard operating practices related to the activities they are engaged in
6. Follow Eaton procedures and policies specific to their workplace.
The candidate should be self-directed, able to work with little supervision, work well with others, and have an interest in continuous learning and improvement.
Additional Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain new processes associated with polymer additive manufacturing and printed electronics
- Support the engineering team in producing additively manufactured (AM) parts for projects.
- Construct and test prototypes and designs
- Present and deliver data to the engineering team in an efficient and organized manner.
- Accurately document and communicate project progress with engineering team.
- Effectively maintains laboratory equipment, machines, and material inventories needed for experimental work.
Job Qualifications/Educational Requirements Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field with some manufacturing/production experience highly desired.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of experience and knowledge in polymer additive manufacturing, such as FDM (FFF and FGF) and SLA processes or Printed electronics.
- Capable of following test procedures and conducting experiments using AM machines, and other basic lab equipment.
- Must have a basic understanding of computer systems and networks.
- Basic data analysis and Microsoft Office skills
- Demonstrates effective communication with peers and management.
- Knows and follows safety practices in all areas of the workplace.
- Must be comfortable working in a cross-disciplinary, team oriented atmosphere.
- Basic understanding of electronics, electrical resistance and soldering is a plus
Preferred Requirements
- Additional experience with materials testing and test equipment such as tensile load frame, fatigue, rheology, TGA, DSC, DMA etc. is a plus.
- Knowledge and familiarity with a range of polymers and polymer processing technology.
- Produces a consistent flow of high quality work and develops a body of information used to improve quality and efficiency.
- Understands the fundamentals and reasoning of problem solving and demonstrates tangible evidence of critical problem solving.
- Knowledge on 3D printing and screen printing of electronics is a plus
- Executing print runs and conducting ongoing quality assessments during the print cycle
