Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Inspectors
The following positions will serve as part of client's staff augmentation services in support of the on-going construction for the Northern Bus Garage. When completed, the new garage site will house up to 150 buses and include infrastructure needed to support an all-electric bus fleet as part of the client's transition to zero-emission buses. The new facility will maintain the historic facade, adding retail space to the street-facing areas, streetscape improvements and a community room for local meetings.
SALARY RANGE
$55 to $75 per hour
Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in overseeing electrical work related to cable systems, routing, power interfaces, and the conversion of system requirements into electrical work specifications;
- Inspect electrical and mechanical infrastructure to ensure compliance with construction drawings, project specifications, layouts, and relevant electrical code requirements;
- Assess the installation of cables and all electronic equipment to verify conformance with construction drawings, project specifications, layouts, and electrical code standards;
- Conduct periodic field inspections to confirm that contractor-installed materials and equipment meet project plans and specifications;
- Identify potential issues during inspections and develop recommendations for resolving any problems to maintain project integrity and timelines;
- Conduct spot checks to verify the quantities of installed materials, ensuring the accuracy of contractor payment requests;
- Review shop drawings and respond promptly to contractor inquiries to facilitate project progress;
- Develop test procedures and review test results to ensure compliance with project requirements and specifications;
- Attend field reviews with clients or project teams to discuss field conditions and design considerations, providing expert insights and recommendations;
- Utilize procedures outlined in the project implementation manual, offering project staff guidance on the use and application of Procore software;
- Assist in developing punch lists at the completion of contract milestones and perform inspections to verify completion of work;
- Conduct substantial completion inspections and final acceptance inspections to ensure all work meets project standards;
- Prepare punch lists or worklists for areas of assigned responsibility prior to substantial completion inspections;
- Monitor and document the correction of construction deficiencies to maintain project quality;
- Oversee on-site material testing as required to verify compliance with specifications;
- Assist with contract closeout and ensure the acquisition of contractor-prepared technical documents for the client's project record, including as-built plans, drawings, and schematics; and
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager and/or the client's task manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma and a technical school certificate are required;
- OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification is required, or the ability to obtain certification within three months of hire;
- Demonstrated experience performing daily field inspections of electrical components on similar past projects;
- Proven ability to develop daily field inspection reports and maintain thorough documentation of all electrical inspection-related items;
- Strong experience in reading and interpreting construction documents, including approved drawings, specifications, and all other project-related documents;
- Ability to communicate effectively with on-site PMCM staff to provide detailed and accurate reporting of daily inspection tasks;
- Demonstrated experience performing required inspections of work conducted by the general contractor and subcontractors to verify compliance with contract plans, specifications, approved shop drawings, and all other authorized work plans;
- Proven ability to prepare comprehensive written and electronic daily field reports while maintaining quality assurance logs that detail work performed, deviations from plans, unforeseen conditions, and any non-conforming work;
- Capacity to monitor the correction of non-conforming work by the general contractor to ensure adherence to project standards; and
- Ability to assist office staff with project closeout processes and provide support for claims as needed.
