This important role requires a dynamic individual who can manage prototypes, develop work instructions, and solve problems effectively across disciplines. You will work closely with peers, production personnel, vendors, and the design team to ensure product and process development aligns with business needs.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

Manage the entire design process from concept to delivery, ensuring the completed design package meets mechanical design principles and company requirements.
Collaborate with the design team to create innovative product designs and chosen design concepts.
Develop and maintain documentation, including computer renderings, 3D models, and presentations.
Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and ensure document control.
Liaise with safety agencies such as UL to ensure safety compliance.
Conduct studies, criteria specification evaluations, and integrated systems analysis.
Provide technical guidance and support to production personnel and vendors for producing the product.
Carry out in-field assessments to determine mechanical suitability and associated analyses.
Ensure designs adhere to regulations, standards, and codes and consider current manufacturing capabilities.
Participate in project management, including developing cost estimates and testing plans.
Write and edit reports detailing evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, recommendations, and conclusions.
Provide technical support and guidance to the production personnel and vendors.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within the manufacturing industry.
Proven experience in prototype management, developing work instructions, and cross-discipline problem solving.
Strong mechanical background with a focus on sheet metal parts and refrigeration systems.
Proficiency in Solid Edge and SolidWorks.
Excellent knowledge of mechanical design principles and the design process.
Demonstrated experience in BOM creation and document control.
Familiarity with safety compliance and liaising with safety agencies.
Experience in project management, testing, and associated analyses.
Ability to write and edit technical reports and manuals.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
