Location:

Compensation:
The compensation will have a base salary commensurate with experience + excellent benefits package. (May be flexible for candidates with industry experience who can hit the ground running.)
Opportunity Summary:
We are excited to be partnering with a 175 year old Manufacturing company located in Central Virginia who provides 100% American Made products used in underground Water & Gas Utilities. We are currently searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience using Solidworks and AutoCAD to design casted metal products and associated tooling. Job Duties:
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) equipment, develop basic data and make preliminary layouts, sketches and notes necessary to present design proposals to internal and external customers.
- Design and model foundry tooling like patterns and core box.
- Work with product development team to finalize the new product design considering manufacturing capability.
- Create 3D CAD models of designs using SolidWorks and prepare 2D drawings that convey the design for manufacturing and maintenance purposes.
- Work directly with internal teams to develop fixtures and other machining components from renderings or rough designs with contractor and vendors.
- Create layouts and drawings of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures.
- Contribute to the design of existing and new patterns and help in building pattern design data.
- Support development of technical solutions to complex problems which require regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
- Interact with senior internal and external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
- Apply current technology and aid in the development of new technologies.
- Help and lead troubleshooting problems associated with designs.
- Assist with determining feasibility of new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning and other technical and economic factors. Confer
- with engineering and operation personnel and submit design modification recommendations as required.
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to evolve and improve project workflows.
- Ensure that design and manufacturing lessons learnt are gathered and built into the final product solution.
Requirements:
- Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Proficient with 3D printing (FDM and SLA) and 3D scanning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or 10 years of experience with designing foundry tooling required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience with foundry tooling.
- Excellent attention to detail and troubleshooting.
- Proven skills working with multi materials such as, but not limited to wood, metal, plastic, and electrical components.
- Multi-tasking skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while consistently delivering quality work.
- Solid time management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to take direction and responsibility for projects.
- Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to deliver high-quality, detailed work independently, highlighting key risks, and design dependencies to technical teams.
- Communication with cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.
