About the Job
This position can be based in our Fargo (ND), Grand Forks (ND), or Bismarck (ND) office.
As an Mechanical CAD Designer, you will:
- Assist the Project Manager or Principal on projects from concept to successful completion.
- Utilize and manage computer-aided design (CAD) software such as CADWorx Plant, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, and LiDAR scan-processing software to create schematic, process (P&IDs) and construction drawings and 3D models for piping, equipment, and structures.
- Work day-to-day with other engineering disciplines, internal and external, of the organization.
- May perform construction management, as necessary, for projects during the construction phase.
- Must be able to accommodate and meet customer demands within deadlines.
- Verify and interpret applicable codes and regulations.
- Report to the Industrial Services Design Lead for training and work scheduling.
- Assist with improving department drafting procedures and standards.
- Perform visits to industrial facilities to perform field work and operation of LiDAR scanning equipment (some travel required).
To join us, you should have:
- Minimum two-year associate's degree in Drafting Technology or related degree
- 5+ years of drafting experience for an engineering consulting firm is a plus, we will consider all experience levels
- Related experience with industrial facilities and mechanical design a plus; we will consider all experience types
- Must have experience with AutoCAD, or coursework at minimum
- Experience with CADWorx Plant a plus, but not required
- Experience with LiDAR scanning equipment (Faro or Leica) and software a plus, but not required
- Experience with REVIT a plus, but not required
- Knowledge or experience with industrial processes and piping experience preferred
- Knowledge of standardized drafting practices and procedures
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Strong work ethic and focus to achieve project goals and deadlines
- Able to perform duties with minimal oversite
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, both in office and remotely
- Willingness to travel to job sites occasionally
- Willingness to work occasional overtime
- A valid driver’s license
