POSITION SUMMARY
Are you an experienced mechanic looking to elevate your career with advanced responsibilities and a chance to make a real impact? At MCI, we are seeking a Mechanic II to join our dedicated Service Center team. In this role, you will take on a wide range of tasks, from complex diagnostics to final inspections, ensuring our fleet of buses and coaches operates at peak performance. With your expertise, you’ll help lead the way in maintaining both traditional and electric vehicles, setting the standard for safety and quality in the industry.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Perform Advanced Diagnostics and Repairs: Use your expertise to diagnose and repair advanced braking systems, including antilock brakes and disc brakes. Address complex steering and suspension system issues, ensuring our buses operate safely and smoothly.
- Troubleshoot Electrical and Technical Issues: Dive deep into electrical system diagnostics, identifying and resolving issues with alternators, wiring, and driveline components. Utilize advanced diagnostic devices to ensure precise and accurate repairs.
- Assist in Engine and Driveline Maintenance: Support major engine repairs and maintenance, working alongside senior mechanics to rebuild or replace engines and driveline components like transmissions and differentials. Your hands-on experience will be crucial in keeping our fleet running efficiently.
- Lead Fleet Vehicle Inspections and Final Sign-Off: Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections, ensuring all systems meet safety and performance standards. Play a key role in the final checklist and sign-off process, certifying that each bus is road-ready before it leaves the service center.
- Mentor and Develop Junior Mechanics: Share your knowledge and experience with Mechanic III team members, guiding them through basic maintenance tasks and helping them develop their skills. Your mentorship will contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Stay Ahead with Electric Vehicle Maintenance: Be at the forefront of innovation by working on electric buses, maintaining, and inspecting high-voltage systems, battery packs, and electric drivetrains. Gain valuable experience in this growing field and help set the standard for electric vehicle maintenance.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFULL:
- Technical Expertise: 3-5 years of experience in automotive, diesel, or related fields, with strong knowledge of advanced braking, steering, and suspension systems.
- Diagnostic and Repair Skills: Proven ability to diagnose and repair electrical systems, driveline components, and engines. Experience with advanced diagnostic devices and shop tools.
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail when conducting inspections and completing final vehicle checklists, ensuring all repairs meet safety and quality standards.
- Safety and Collaboration: Strong understanding of safety practices and the effective use of personal protective equipment. Ability to work independently while also being a supportive team player.
