Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Material Planner in Alsip, IL. The work will be done onsite. This is a long term contract. It can lead to permanent employment with our customer. Compensation is $30/hr + OT including benefits, vision, dental, health insurance, 401K and holiday pay.
Job Title: Material Planner - Supply Chain
Location: Alsip, IL, USA
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Material Planner to join our supply chain team. This role involves planning and maintaining proper inventory levels of purchased materials to support service levels and net working capital guidelines. The Material Planner ensures the timely and complete arrival of all required raw materials (On Time In Full - OTIF) to support demand and production schedules.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Planning:
- Read and analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) data to firm up purchase orders.
- Maintain optimal raw material inventory levels through effective use of planning and inventory parameters.
- Participate in regular reviews of planning and inventory parameters, including safety stock, lead times, and order quantities.
- Communicate proactively with the Scheduling department to update on open order statuses and ensure compliance with production schedules.
- Respond to urgent demand changes by expediting raw materials as needed.
- Prevent raw material shortages that could impact the production schedule.
- Expedite and escalate material issues to appropriate teams.
Vendor Interaction and Management:
- Collaborate with the purchasing team to develop supply agreements for selected categories, ensuring supplier performance meets OTIF standards.
- Communicate with vendors regarding service level performance, delays, and necessary corrective actions for raw material claims and rejections.
- Co-lead the Vendor Evaluation Process to support and analyze supplier performance indicators.
Other Related Activities:
- Participate in Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings with a focus on raw material availability and identifying potential stock-out risks.
- Periodically review at-risk or slow-moving inventory to identify items that may expire before use and suggest appropriate actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a related field, such as Supply Chain Management.
- 3-5 years of experience in a supply chain environment.
- APICS/CPIM certification preferred.
- Prior experience with ERP and MRP systems, preferably within the food industry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make informed decisions under imperfect conditions.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy.
- A proactive and positive approach to problem-solving and opportunity management.
