SUMMARY:
The Material Handler will have experience performing a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to, operating a gasoline, liquified gas, or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forks, boom, scoop, lift beam and swivel hook, fork grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Job Specific Duties:
Perform daily equipment inspection prior to use and perform preventive maintenance as scheduled.
Operate material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Position forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or heavy steel materials and transport loads to designated areas.
Unload and stack heavy steel material by raising and lowering lifting device.
Assist with inventory of materials.
Supply workers with materials as needed to ensure efficient material flow and handling.
Weigh materials or products and record weight on tags and shipping documents.
Load or offload heavy steel materials onto or off truck trailers, pallets, skids, or lifting devices.
Ensure items received are correct and in acceptable condition. Responsible for communicating to Purchasing/Production Manager if items do not meet standards.
Ensure fabricated assemblies are loaded, stacked, blocked, etc. In a manner as to prevent damage during tie-down, shipping, and offloading.
Pre-stage fabricated assemblies to facilitate efficient loading and use of equipment.
Create accurate load lists and bills of lading.
Keep rolling carts of fabricated sub-assemblies cleared and delivered to designated areas.
Recharge batteries, fill fuel tank, and/or replace liquefied gas tank.
Maintain clean and organized storage & staging areas for raw materials and fabricated assemblies.
Must be competent in the use of overhead cranes.

Must understand and follow the KSF Code of Conduct and all guidelines in the KSF employee handbook.
Must maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with KSF procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintain adherence to company policies, quality, safety, and environmental standards as outlined in roles and responsibilities.
Report to immediate supervisor and foreman while coordinating with other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
Industrial powered trucks and vehicle safety.
Structural steel materials.
Basic math and measurement skills e.G., addition, subtraction, multiplication.
Company policies and procedures.
Ability to:
Perform all duties and requirements outlined in the KSF Material Handler job description.
Read a tape measure.
Pass KSF forklift certification.
Communicate and understand verbal and written instructions.
Work independently and in a team.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum six (6) months to one year of experience operating heavy industrial forklifts.
Previous experience working in a steel or pipe yard a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Successful completion of physical, substance abuse screening, and background check.
Bilingual a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters in performing the essential functions of this job.
Work is primarily performed outside.
Noise level is moderately loud to loud.
